The School Nurse
Mrs. Merly, conducts all school health services, including vision and hearing tests for students. In addition, she develops plans for students with allergies and meets with students who are ill or injured at school. Students who need to see the nurse should get permission by having their teacher sign their agenda planner.
It is very important that both Mrs. Merly and the main office have updated emergency contact information for each child at Cross Street School. The emergency contact information is located on the Powerschool Update Form (yellow) which is sent home during the first week of the school year and must be returned as soon as possible. If changes occur to your emergency contact list, please inform Mrs. Mariano in the main office.
Parents must notify the nurse if they have an allergy. There is a student medical plan that must be completed. Students who have a food allergy should not share food in school or on the bus. There are many students who attend Cross Street School who have severe food allergies. Several of our current students are severely allergic to nuts and all nut products. In effort to create the safest environment in which to learn, Cross Street School has a table within the cafeteria that is nut free. We ask that you avoid sending snacks containing nuts.
If students have an epi-pen, inhaler or need to take other medication at school, please ensure that the nurse has the medicine and the doctor’s authorization form.
